The Intern Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the Intern's activities and for acting as a mentor throughout the course of the program. Naomi Finseth, Manager of Communications and Strategic Initiatives, serves as the County's Intern Supervisor.

About Naomi

Naomi Finseth has proudly served the County of Wetaskiwin for seven years, starting as an Administrative Intern in 2018. Drawn to the County’s vision and community spirit, she stayed on after completing her internship and now leads as the Manager of Communications and Strategic Initiatives.

Growing up on a farm in Camrose County, Naomi’s passion for rural life runs deep. With a background in Political Science and Rural Development, she’s dedicated to helping rural communities grow, thrive, and reach their full potential.

Before joining local government, Naomi spent six years working in rural research with the Alberta Centre for Sustainable Rural Communities and the Rural Development Institute, where she gained valuable insight into the challenges and opportunities facing small communities.

As this year’s Internship Supervisor, Naomi is thrilled to support and mentor emerging leaders. “I love engaging with recent grads and hearing their fresh ideas. Helping interns learn and grow is one of the most rewarding parts of my role.”

Naomi’s enthusiasm, experience, and genuine love for rural communities make her a key part of the County’s success. She’s committed to fostering innovation and creating opportunities that ensure the County of Wetaskiwin continues to flourish.
