The Intern Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the Intern's activities and for acting as a mentor throughout the course of the program. Neal Sarnecki, Director of Planning and Economic Development, serves as the County's Intern Supervisor.
A Planner by trade, Neal has extensive experience in serving with the Edmonton Metropolitan Region Board (EMRB) in several high level management roles where he focused on Land Use Projects and high level strategic planning and thinking along with day to day operations, as well as Strathcona County where he was a key contributor throughout the immense growth that was seen in the area, particularly Sherwood Park. Furthermore, during his time at Strathcona County, Neal also served as a Senior Development Officer and understands the intricacies of the Development side of things and how it is essential to mesh with the relevant planning documents and long range planning side of things. Most recently, Neal was the Director of the Saskatoon North Partnership for Growth (P4G), which was a organization that focused on high level planning and development for the City of Saskatoon and the surrounding rural municipalities, showing his knowledge and experience on both the urban and rural side of things.
