The goal of the Municipal Internship Program is to give post-secondary graduates practical management skills and experience in all aspects of local government. The County of Wetaskiwin has hosted fourteen (14) interns since the program was re-introduced in 2002, with a wide ranging background of educational pursuits and experience. Each Intern has brought a valuable and unique set of skills and perspectives to the organization.
There are three (3) "streams" within the Internship Program:
Administrative-- 18 month program that provides Interns with a broad overview of all departments and general operations of local government.
Finance-- 18 month program that provides Interns with an opportunity to gain in-depth experience within the County's Finance Department, while also exposing the Intern to other areas of local government.
Planning-- 18 month program that provides Interns with an opportunity to gain in-depth experience within the County's Planning and Development Department, while also exposing the Intern to other areas of local government.
