Building Permits

Why Do I Need a Building Permit?

In the interest of public safety and as required by the Alberta Safety Codes Act, all building installations require a Building Permit and are subject to appropriate inspections.

Once a Development Permit has been issued by the County, you may require one or all of the following permits through Superior Safety Codes Inc.

  • Building
  • Electrical
  • Gas
  • Plumbing
  • Private Sewage

Sole Source Contract - Superior Safety Codes Inc.

Council has awarded a sole source contract to Superior Safety Codes Inc.

The Provincial Safety Codes Council has authorized the County as an accredited agency who has the authority to enter into contracts with an accredited agency to provide services. As such, all safety codes permits (building, electrical, gas, plumbing and/or private sewage) must be obtained from Superior Safety Codes Inc.

Final accreditation with the Alberta Safety Codes Council and approval of final agreements was finalized on April 1, 2015. This contact was renewed in 2021 for another three year term.
