The Council of the County of Wetaskiwin No. 10 is proposing to adopt a new Land Use Bylaw (LUB). The new LUB will replace the existing Land Use Bylaw 2017/48. A Public Hearing will be held on December 17, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at Council Chambers, County Office, 243019A Highway 13. All Public Hearings are open to the public and attendance either in person or virtually is encouraged. Written and verbal comments may be given at the Public Hearing.
The purpose of the Public Hearing is to allow the public to address Council directly on the proposed new LUB. The significant changes from the existing LUB to the new LUB include reducing the number of districts from over thirty (30) to ten (10), supporting economic development by easing regulations and making more uses permitted in each district, providing greater flexibility in housing types and allowing up to two (2) dwelling units on all residential lots, simplifying recreational unit regulations, and increasing the variance abilities of Development Officers in order to support unique and innovative developments. The Bylaw also streamlines development approvals, removes redundancy, and is easier to read and use by all audiences.
Details for Participation:
- In-Person Attendance: Persons wishing to speak at the Public Hearing may attend without prior notification. The Council Meeting will already be in progress starting at 9:00 a.m., so attendees are asked to enter quietly and be seated in the gallery with minimal disruption.

- Speaking Guidelines: Each speaker will have one opportunity to present for up to five (5) minutes, excluding responses to questions from Council at the conclusion of their presentation. A second opportunity may be granted, time permitting, after everyone has had a chance to speak and at the discretion of the Chair. The County of Wetaskiwin values public input and encourages all interested individuals to participate in this important process.
