Update: July 24, 2026:

The County is pleased to share that construction on Bridge File 8525 has been successfully completed ahead of schedule. The temporary road closure on Range Road 261 south of Highway 13 has now been lifted, and the roadway is fully open to the public. 

We thank residents and motorists for their patience and cooperation throughout the construction period.

Update: July 11, 2026: 

• The existing bridge has been removed.
• Excavation is complete, including the removal of the existing piles.
• Excavation to the subbase has been completed, and the new culvert trench has been prepared.
• New twin culverts have been assembled and installed.
• Backfilling operations are now underway.
• Construction remains on schedule, with completion anticipated by the end of July, weather permitting.

The County of Wetaskiwin No. 10 advises residents that construction will begin on Monday, June 22, 2026, to replace Bridge File 8525 on Range Road 261 south of Highway 13.

As part of the County's Bridge Capital Plan, the existing 67-year-old single-span bridge will be replaced with a new culvert structure to improve long-term safety, reliability, and infrastructure sustainability.

Road Closure Details

• Location: Range Road 261 south of Highway 13
• Closure Begins: 8:00 a.m., Monday, June 22, 2026
• Expected Reopening: July 29, 2026

During construction, the road will be closed to all traffic. Motorists are asked to follow the posted detour route and allow extra travel time.

The County appreciates the public's patience and cooperation while this important infrastructure improvement is completed.
