Rainfall Update: Impacts to County Infrastructure

County of Wetaskiwin News Posted on June 21, 2026

Current Road Conditions

The County of Wetaskiwin is currently experiencing significant rainfall, resulting in localized flooding, water-covered roadways, and road closures in some areas.

Residents are advised to use extreme caution when travelling. Road conditions can change rapidly, and some roads may be impassable due to standing water, washouts, or flooding. Please obey all road closure signs and barricades and never drive through flooded areas.

County crews are actively monitoring conditions and responding where possible.

Wastewater Systems at Capacity

Due to the substantial amount of rainfall, several wastewater and lagoon systems are approaching or have reached capacity. Residents connected to municipal wastewater systems are asked to help reduce strain on the system by limiting non-essential water use where possible.

This includes:

  • Delaying laundry and dishwasher use if possible
  • Limiting unnecessary water consumption
  • Conserving water until conditions improve

The County will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as conditions change.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation as we work through these challenging weather conditions.
