[ARCHIVED] News Release: The County Welcomes Scott MacDougall as New Chief Administrative Officer

News Release - New CAO

For Immediate Release – “County Council is excited to announce our new Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), Mr. Scott MacDougall, P.Eng. After a very thorough selection process, Mr. MacDougall stood out as the perfect fit for our community” stated Reeve Josh Bishop. “We also want to extend our deepest thanks to our retiring CAO, Mr. Rod Hawken, for over two decades of dedicated service to the County.”

Many skilled individuals applied for the CAO position, making the selection a challenging but rewarding process. The Search Committee, comprised of Reeve Bishop, Deputy Reeve Kooyakkers and Councillor Seely, took the lead in this thorough search. After narrowing down the candidates and conducting several interviews, the entire Council met with Mr. MacDougall for a final interview. His exceptiScottonal qualifications and vision for the County set him apart, and Council unanimously chose him as the next CAO.

Mr. MacDougall started his new role in September and has already been making a positive impact in the day-to-day operations. He is a professional engineer with extensive private sector experience, as well as senior administration experience in the public sector. He is an active community member and enjoys spending time with his family at their cottage on Pigeon Lake. "I am honored to join the County of Wetaskiwin as the new CAO and to serve this vibrant community,” said Mr. MacDougall. “I look forward to collaborating with our dedicated Council and team of professionals along with the broader community to support growth and enhance our County."

“Scott has a vision for the County that matches Council’s. He is dedicated to making life better for the people who live here” said Reeve Josh Bishop. “We can't wait to work closely with Mr. MacDougall in our upcoming Strategic Planning Sessions and for the 2024 Budget. We believe he is the right person to help the County of Wetaskiwin grow and thrive. Join us in welcoming Scott to the County of Wetaskiwin.”
