[ARCHIVED] Notice of Public Hearing - Land Use Bylaw Text Amendments

Public Hearing LUB Amendment

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

TAKE NOTICE that a Public Hearing will be held before Council to review proposed amendments to Land Use Bylaw (LUB) 2017/48. The proposed text amendments include the following:

  • Support for Secondary Suites in accessory buildings along with other minor updates to the applicable regulations, including amendments to the definitions of accessory building, secondary suite, and revision to references of “Dwelling, Secondary Suite” to “Secondary Suite” in Section 10, District Regulations.
  • Support for the subdivision of agricultural farm sites that contain two existing dwellings. This includes amendments to Section 9.8 “Number of Dwellings on a Lot.”
  • Alignment of the Land Use Bylaw (LUB) with the recently adopted Municipal Development Plan (MDP). The new MDP increased the parcel density of agriculture subdivisions on a quarter section without the need for an Area Structure Plan or rezoning to another land use district. The MDP also clarified when an ASP is required negating the need to stipulate the requirement in the LUB.

A copy of the Land Use Bylaw with the proposed amendments can be obtained by email or clicking here.

Before proceeding further, Council will hold a Public Hearing at which any person claiming to be affected by the proposed amendments to Land Use Bylaw 2017/48 may ask questions or make their views known, via written submission, email or by attending in person. In accordance with the Municipal Government Act, any person affected has the right to petition this proposal.

The hearing will be held in the Council Chambers, at the County Administration Office, located 2.4 kilometres west of Wetaskiwin on Highway 13, at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, July 18, 2023.

Members of the public have the option to attend virtually. For individuals wishing to attend in person, virtually, please contact Jeff Chipley, Assistant CAO, at 780-387-6043 (cell) or email in order to make arrangements prior to the meeting.
