The County of Wetaskiwin has lifted the TOTAL FIRE BAN and has issued a FIRE RESTRICTION effective June 15, 2023, at 12:00 PM. The total fire ban has been lifted as most of the County of Wetaskiwin has received some rainfall, and cooler temperatures are in the forecast.

Under the FIRE RESTRICTION, fires that require a permit are still not allowed as they still pose a greater risk for wildfire spread. This includes:

  • brush piles
  • fireworks

Recreational fires and all barbecues are now permitted.

Residents are advised that it is their personal responsibility to ensure that their fire always remains under control. Please ensure firepits are at least three meters from structures, fences, decks or trees. Residents are advised to use caution and monitor fires at all times.

The County of Wetaskiwin continues to monitor the conditions closely and any changes in the situation will be announced on the County website the Alberta Fire Bans website.
