The long weekend is coming and the County Campgrounds are open but the Total Fire Ban will remain in effect.
Due to ongoing dry and windy conditions, as well as wildfires occurring in other areas of the Province that are being supported by mutual aid resources from our local fire departments, the Total Fire Ban for the County of Wetaskiwin will remain in effect until further notice.
No outdoor fires are permitted, including:
- Recreational fire pits;
- Open fires (brush, bonfire);
- Burn barrels;
- Chimineas;
- No in-ground roasts with charcoal briquettes
The discharge of fireworks is strictly prohibited.
No new fire permits will be issued for the duration of this ban.
- Cooking and recreational appliances that can be turned off using a switch or valve (fire table, electric smoker, propane or natural gas barbeques) are allowed
- Pellet barbeques are allowed
If you see a fire, please call 9-1-1 and report it as soon as possible.
Fire officials will continue to monitor conditions and update the public at www.county.wetaskiwin.ab.ca and www.albertafirebans.ca when the ban is lifted or downgraded.
