[ARCHIVED] News Release: Changes to Dust Control Program

Dust Control Applications due June 1, 2021

The County of Wetaskiwin is now accepting applications for the 2021 Dust Control Program. Any resident wishing to have an application of dust control must submit a completed application and payment to the County of Wetaskiwin Administration office no later than June 1. Late applications may not be considered.

Dust control services shall only be offered during the period of June 1 to September 1 of each calendar year. As per Council resolution at the March 23, 2021 Council meeting, Council has eliminated the 1/3 subsidy for dust control applications in a cost saving effort, therefore the rate per metre has increased to $6.50 per metre (plus GST).

Application forms are available at Falun Co-op, Buck Lake Hardware and Seely’s General (Alder Flats) or on the County website. Application forms can also be faxed or emailed to residents upon request. Please call Public Works at 780-361-6241 for more information.  If applicable, the Dust Control Program will not commence until Seasonal Road Bans have been lifted.

Residents are advised that the spreading of used oil on roads within the County of Wetaskiwin, prior to testing and meeting Alberta Environment guidelines is not permitted.

Note: Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the current oil industry economy, some oil companies may not be paying for dust control on some haul roads as they have in previous years. Please contact Public Works at 780-361-6241 to verify if your location has been approved and paid for by the oil company before the June 1 deadline.
