Have land west of Winfield and actively farming? ALUS (Alternative Land Use Services) can still consider projects in this area because of funds tied to the Modeste Natural Infastructure Project .
ALUS helps fund producer projects which increase ecosystem services on their land and provides maintenance payments thereafter. Ecosystem services are the benefits that people get from nature, like clean water.
What kinds of projects qualify? Some common examples are riparian enhancements along creeks and wetlands and off-site watering equipment for livestock. If you were planning or already working on similar projects this season, email the Wetaskiwin/Leduc ALUS Coordinator, Kim Barkwell or call 780-387-6182.
