[ARCHIVED] Fire Advisory now in effect

Fire Advisory Apr 11 2024 (1)

The County of Wetaskiwin has issued a FIRE ADVISORY effective April 11, 2024 at 1:00 pm.

Forecasted increased temperatures, increased wind gusts and declining relative humidity are contributing to increased fire hazards throughout the County as the snowpack dissipates.

Existing Fire Permits shall be monitored and maintained to extinguishment. New Fire Permit requests will be issued as conditions allow. All previous permitted sites are required to check for, and mitigate as necessary, holdover fires (ground fires).

Contact a Fire Guardian in your division to get your Fire Permit before your burn. Or check out our new Online Fire Permitting system.

All residents are encouraged to use caution with allowable recreational - camp, cooking, or warming fires, burn barrels, or other acceptable appliances.

Residents are encouraged to learn and implement effective Fire Smart tips to reduce hazards within their property, acreage, or farm.

Please watch the County of Wetaskiwin website and Alberta Fire Bans website for more information.
