As of 3:00 PM today, the Pressure Reducing Valve (PRV) Vault in the Hamlet of Gwynne has been restored and is operating as designed. However, a piping connection downstream of the PRV has failed, causing potable water to return into the vault. The issue has been identified as a line break, and a contractor has been notified to prepare for a water main repair.

Impact:

  • Approximately a dozen residents on Government Avenue and Short Avenue are affected by this disruption.
  • Utilities operators are going door-to-door to inform impacted residents and assist with temporary water solutions.
  • The remainder of the Hamlet’s water distribution system is secure, and no other residents are affected.

Next Steps:

  • Water distribution on Government and Short Avenue will remain isolated for the next 24 hours.
  • Temporary water options are being arranged, including filling pails, totes, or other containers at the existing distribution facility.

Further updates will be provided on our official website and Facebook page as new information becomes available.
