Community Peace Officers

Community Peace Officers operate under the Authorization provided by the Alberta Solicitor General Public Security Division, to carry out duties as assigned by Council including;  road protection initiatives, traffic management (enforcement), public relations/awareness, public safety, disaster services, conducting preventative patrols, as well as providing assistance to the RCMP (Provincial Police Service) as requested.

Enforcement Powers

The Authorization to Employ Community Peace Officers as provided by the Alberta Solicitor General Public Security Division outlines Community Peace Officer enforcement powers which include:
Community Peace Officers also enforce many of the County of Wetaskiwin Bylaws.

Highway Protection

Community Peace Officers provide a high degree of protection to the County road infrastructure  by enforcing commercial vehicle weight restrictions and ensuring there is safe, unobstructed road system for those local road networks under the direction and supervision of the County of Wetaskiwin Number 10.


Preventive Patrols

Preventive patrols are an integral part of Protective Services core business activities. This proactive public safety initiative further promotes the wants and needs of municipal council ensuring safe communities.

Recertification Training

Community Peace Officers attend yearly recertification training sessions that are approved by the Public Security Division, Alberta Justice and Solicitor General.
