Amateur Photo Contest
Welcome to our Amateur Photo Contest for County of Wetaskiwin Residents.
The County of Wetaskiwin is a vast area of unique landscapes and views with an abundance of community spirit and activities. We want to know what makes our County beautiful to you. We are, once again, turning to our residents, the ones who know our County the best, to submit photos of what they believe represents our way of life. We will use these photos to represent our County on published material and our website, which gives people their first impressions of our community.
Who can Enter?
County residents who are amateur photographers can enter. Resident for the purposes of this contest means you live, or pay taxes on property, within the borders of the County of Wetaskiwin and not within the borders of another municipality (ie. Town, City, Summer Village). Amateur means you have not had formal training or received pay for your photography. County employees and their immediate family members (same household) are not eligible.
When/How do I Enter?
Photos (5 entries per person) can be submitted and must be received by the deadline date November 30, 2017. Submit your named photos (jpeg file format with minimum resolution of 300 dpi) online to the right or print the submission and release form, if applicable, and mail 5X7 prints to the County of Wetaskiwin Administration Building.

There is a limit of 5 entries per person and all entries must be photos taken in 2016 or 2017.
The photographer is responsible for securing permission to use the photo from all persons in the photo and it must not feature intellectual property of others (i.e. logos, trademarks, etc.) and must be in good taste. All photos will become the property of the County of Wetaskiwin who will reserve the rights to publish the photos in various media formats, for an unlimited amount of time and at no cost to the County of Wetaskiwin.
We do not accept digitally or otherwise enhanced or altered photos. Minor adjustments, including spotting, dodging and burning, sharpening, contrast and slight color adjustment, are acceptable. If the judges determine that a photographer has enhanced or altered his or her photo, they reserve the right to disqualify it.
How will the Winners be Chosen?
There will be a first and second place winner selected by a panel of judges who will rate each photo based on creativity, quality, originality and depiction of our community. First place prize is $300 and second place prize is $200. The contest will be judged anonymously (the judges will not know who the picture belongs to until after judging is completed).
Winners will be notified in January 2018 via email and/or telephone and their names will be published on the County website at www.county.wetaskiwin.ab.ca and in the County pages of the Pipestone Flyer.
