Position Summary

The County of Wetaskiwin is seeking to fill 2 (two) vacancies for our Seasonal Arena Operator 1 position, reporting to leadership in Parks & Recreation at the County of Wetaskiwin. This is a term position eligible to start as soon as September 1, 2026 – March 31, 2027. The Arena Operator is responsible for operating the ice resurfacer, performing janitorial duties, minor equipment repairs, ongoing regular maintenance of facility and equipment within the Winfield Arena. The successful candidate must be able to work evenings and weekends.

- Shift schedules will very and be 4-8 hours per shift and up to 40 hours per week.

Experience and Education Requirements

The successful applicant will have the following qualifications:

A valid Class 5 Drivers License
First Aid & CPR Certificate

Preference will be given to those who also possess the following qualifications:

Arena Operator Level 1 (Recreation Facility Personnel)
Arena Maintenance Certificate (Recreation Facility Personnel)
Recreation Facility Operations and Maintenance Certificate (or equivalent certification)

What we Offer

The County of Wetaskiwin offers compensation in accordance with the International Union of Operating Engineers Collective Agreement. The wage range for this position is Grade 4, $25.61 to $28.45 per hour, depending on experience.
