The County is aware of a telephone service outage affecting the Mulhurst area, portions of Westerose, the Winfield area, and Buck Lake.
According to TELUS, the outage was caused by a third-party contractor damaging a telecommunications fiber line near the intersection of Highway 20 and Highway 616. Repair work is currently underway.
As a temporary measure, TELUS is deploying Starlink equipment to help restore service in the Westerose area. The equipment will remain in place until permanent repairs are completed.
Emergency Communications
- Cellular phones may be able to roam onto other service providers where coverage is available.
- 911 calls are expected to connect through available networks where roaming and network coverage are supported.
The County will share additional updates as more information becomes available.
