Solid Waste & Recycling

The County operates 9 waste transfer stations, and is a member of the West Dried Meat Lake Landfill. All household garbage must be bagged. View our Transfer Station Map (PDF).

User Cards

Any County ratepayer wishing to use a County owned and operated transfer station must obtain a User Card (PDF). A County ratepayer may also obtain one for his / her renter, but is responsible for any charges associated to the use of the card. To obtain a card contact Utilities Clerk at 780-352-3321.  User cards are mailed out to County ratepayers annually.

Disposal Fees

As per Waste Disposal Fees Policy 4304, some fees are charged for disposal of certain items. View our flyer (PDF) for more information about fees that are charged.

Toxic & E-Waste Round Up

The County holds an e-waste and toxic round up annually in June at Lakedell School and Main Street Millet (in conjunction with the Town of Millet). Watch the website and local papers for date and time information. Learn what items are accepted for e-waste by viewing the Household E-Waste list.

Agricultural Plastics

Agricultural plastics (i.e. silage wrap, baler twine, etc.) can be disposed of at Gwynne, Mulhurst Bay, Lakedell and Buck Lake Transfer Stations.

Garbage Pick Up

The County provides curbside pick up at the following locations:
  • Hamlets of Buck Lake and Alder Flats (Mondays)
  • Viola Beach (Mondays)
  • Curilane Beach and Wizard Lake (Tuesdays)
  • Hamlet of Gwynne (Tuesdays)
  • Hamlet of Mulhurst Bay (Tuesdays)
  • Hamlet of Winfield (Tuesdays)
  • Hamlet of Westerose (Mondays)
Please note that if your pick up date falls on a statutory holiday, curbside pick up will occur the next business day. Watch the website & local paper for Christmas date & time information.

All waste is to be put out prior to 8 a.m. on the day of pick up. Any questions regarding services provided or to report if your garbage was not picked up can be emailed to the Utilities Foreman or you can call 780-361-6236.

Recycling Options

The County provides various recycling options (PDF). County residents are also able to utilize the City of Wetaskiwin's Recycling Depot. Various 4-H Clubs within the County participate in recycling fundraisers.
